The Seniors took the opportunity of Spring Break and put together a trip to Atlanta for a few days. We left the school at 0700 and actually got on the road when we planned. Thanks to Lee Harmon who was able to get a bus at the last minute and drive us all down to Atlanta, around town and home with plenty of room.
We spent the 1st day at Six Flags in Atlanta and it was perfect all the way around. The weather was just warm enough and there were NO lines at all . . . getting to ride everything in the park without a wait was great! That evening we had a pizza party back at the hotel and topped the evening off with a swim party (and we got to watch a pair of un-named students snap each other silly with wet towels . . . yes, this was the Senior trip!).
The next morning we had breakfast at the hotel and then headed to downtown Atlanta. The first stop was the Georgia Aquarium. After touring that stop for a while, we all headed through Centennial Park (built for the 1996 Olympics) and went to CNN Center for lunch. After lunch we took a tour of CNN and even got to see Paul Sabisch play anchorman. Never knowing who you might meet took on a special meaning when we ran into a NWHS graduate, Class of 1998, as we walked to CNN and he was now working for the Atlanta Visitors Bureau. He invited us to stop by and get a great view of the park from the roof of the building which we did.
After this stop, we went to the World of Coke and spent a few hours learning all about coke and then trying some 35 varieties from around the world. We headed back to the hotel to change and then went to Dave and Busters for dinner and games. We all got back to the hotel in enough time to have patr 2 of the swim party . . . with more wet towel antics.
The next morning we checked out and headed over to Stone Mountain Park for a day in teh park followed by the laser light show on the great lawn . . . . . and we arrived back at the school around 2AM.
Overall, everyone said they had a great time!
